Poem #205 Funambulist

Updated: Mar 21

The funambulist keeps her eyes only on the end.

Her gaze never wavers the adoring crowd below,

cheering and booing her in equal measure.

She focuses on the end of the tightrope

for she knows whether she succeeds or fails

her life is on the line and

the audience does not care about the outcome

only that they be entertained.

So she walks not for the spectators

but for herself

each step she though difficult reminds her that this

was what she was made to do;

who she was made to be.
