Poem #278 Keep Your Eyes Wide

Keep your eyes wide.

Do not get used to the beauty

and wonder that exists around you.

Apathy has disguised itself as maturity,

and we have bought into its lies.

We buried our curiosity

in the same spot, we did our childhood

and convinced ourselves that wonder is

only meant for those with too much time on their hands.

We complain that the world has become too jaded,

but we have bigger sight problems than heart issues.

For it is only when one is able to see the light,

that we can identify its absences.
