Poem #283 Built

We first built on the rocks

and when the winds came

our home stood the test.

After the storm left

only the sun remained

and complacency settled in.

Little by little,

inch by inch, we moved our home

to a more comfortable ground.

"The sand is softer," we thought,

"easier to settle into."

The winds came again when we least expected it

and though our home survived,

the weakness of our new foundation

was evident for us to see.

So now, brick by brick, we build again

permanently rooted.

On the rock, we shall dwell forever.
