Poem #308 Imagination

When we were younger, we dreamed

of swashbuckling pirates

and dancing monkeys

We had swordfights that spanned

centuries yet only lasted minutes,

We walked on the moon

and swam in the sun,

in our minds, we could be

anything and anyone.

Impossibility was just another word

we didn't know the meaning of.

Now that I am older,

there are days I find myself reaching

for the comfort of those old dreams,

and the simplicity of my youth.

On those days, I am reminded

that even though those

childhood days might be behind me,

my dreams will always stay with me.
