Poem #339 Embers

When the night is long

and the fire burned out

the wind is frigid

and I feel ice within my veins

I will embrace the cold

my passion might

no longer burn like

a mighty flame

but the embers still remain

glowing faintly in the dark

ready for the Day to feed its strength.
