Poem #351 Amazon Boxes

With each purchase

it seems as though

the Amazon boxes are getting bigger

and that one day, I'll order a pen

and have a box so

comically large delivered

that it would barely

fit through my front door.

I am half convinced that

the beautiful people at Amazon

are playing a massive trick on me.

They must have heard me

half whisper, half grumble

into my phone about their

delivery prices,

or maybe I left one bad review

to many on their website.

Most likely, the boxes are

the same sizes they have

always been, and they are just

as aware of my existence

as an elephant is of an ant by his feet.

I might have fallen prey

to the most human fallacy of all,

in my pride I assumed I was the

most person in the world.
